The River Trails School District 26 Board of Education announced the appointment of Des Plaines resident Becky Pfisterer to the vacant board seat at its meeting on Tuesday. Pfisterer was sworn in for a term that will expire in April 2023.
Pfisterer has lived in the district since 2008. She and her husband, Steve, have two sons attending River Trails’ schools. She is the director of national accounts for Advisor Perspectives, a website catered toward financial advisors. Pfisterer graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with Bachelor of Science degrees in marketing and management, as well as a concentration in human resource management and a certificate in entrepreneurship.
“I’d like to thank the members of the board for the honor of this opportunity,” Pfisterer said. “My family values a strong public education and I hope to help continue to foster a school district that is strengthened by our diversity and creates a healthy and fair environment for all students. I also look forward to finding ways to strengthen the bond between our community members and schools.”
The vacancy was created with the resignation of former Board member Dr. Susan Stolzer in August, which led to an immediate search as dictated by Board policy. The process included multiple applicants, who were each interviewed by the six remaining members.
