Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. We are excited to share information with you regarding what we teach, how we teach, and our quest to provide the best possible education for every student in the River Trails School District. Our goal as a learning organization is to inspire our diverse student population to develop the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to excel in an ever-changing world. Additionally, we value the diversity of learning styles our students exhibit and embrace the challenge of creating life-long learners.
The District continues to adapt to the expectations of the Common Core Standards in all content areas. Teachers begin planning by identifying their learning intentions which are tied to the standards. In doing so, teachers provide students with language to understand the complexity of the standards. "I Can Statements" help students understand what they are learning and why it is important.
Changes in curriculum and instruction are designed to prepare students for success with college and career readiness. The shifts in teaching and learning will continue as a means to sustain an educational environment where students are inspired to excel.
We are proud of the success of our students in River Trails District 26. Please refer to the Illinois Interactive Report Card to review our performance on state accountability measures.
