What is Erin's Law?
Erin’s Law, or Illinois Public Act 097-1147, requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for children in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades.
- Students are taught age-appropriate personal body safety and how to tell a trusted adult.
- School personnel, Parents and Guardians are taught the warning signs of child sexual abuse, what to do if someone discloses abuse, and referral/resource information to support children who have been sexually abused and their families.
