Better Buildings Challenge
This program challenges organizations to "commit to improving the energy efficiency of their portfolio of buildings by at least 20% over 10 years." Among the participants are businesses, manufacturers, cities, states, universities and other school districts. DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm recently recognized the district as a participant in the challenge.

Better Climate Challenge
The district is proud to be a participant in the DOE Better Climate Challenge. This is an effort that challenges organizations "to set ambitious, portfolio-wide greenhouse gas emission reduction goals." RTSD26 is one of 32 organizations across the country, and one of only two school districts, that is attempting to reduce emissions by at least 50% within 10 years.
