The River Trails School District 26 Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, February 20, 2023 at Indian Grove School. A full recording of the meeting is available for viewing on our YouTube page.
At 6PM there was a committee meeting, where the board toured Indian Grove in preparation for construction tentative to start in Summer 2026. The slides can be viewed here.
Here are the highlights:
- The board voted on and approved the Chromebook Refresh plan
- Mr. Zachary Scipione gave RTEA comments
- Board communications talked about Euclid’s fun fair, the PTO outing to the Chicago Wolves Game, a board dinner with staff from Euclid, Hero Night at RTMS
- District Recognition showcased some initiatives taking place at Indian Grove Elementary, including trades fair, reading buddies, and other upcoming events for the 5th graders
- Mr. Bill Timmins gave an update on the Indian Grove building goals for the school year s
- Ms. Alicia Duell gave information on updating elementary classroom technology with clear touch panels, the board voted to approve them.
- Mrs. Christine Cheung and Ms.Jess Zajda, teachers from Euclid School, talked about a request for a field trip to Springfield for Innovation Advocacy Day 2024 on May 9, the board approved the trip.
- Business Services gave an NIIPC agreement update, about how the food services department has been using this cooperative to provide locally grown food with scratch made breakfasts and lunches.
- Information was given about the resolution providing for the issue and sale of General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source) of the District in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $10,000,000 for the purpose of improving the sites of and altering, repairing and equipping school buildings and facilities. The board voted to approve it.
- Dr. Lyndl Schuster gave an update on the process of the construction projects happening across the district.
- Ms. Alicia Duell gave a proposal and recommendation about ERate Equipment purchases, the board approved it.
- The board reviewed the first draft of the staffing plans for the 24-25 school year, including discussion of adding a Spanish teacher at RTMS for middle school, as well as adding a speech language pathologist that would work across the district.
- The President's Report gave updates on upcoming events throughout the district.
- Superintendent's report talked about NSSEO Bingo night event, 5Essentials survey, and questions from the committee of the whole meeting regarding IG construction.
