The River Trails School District 26 Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Prairie Trails School. A full recording of the meeting is available for viewing on our YouTube page.
Here are the highlights:
- At 6:30PM, the board went into closed session to discuss personal matters
- Prairie Trails students said the pledge of allegiance and sang their school song
- The board voted on and approved the consent agenda, which included 1/14 Board of Education and closed session meeting minutes, personnel reports A,B, and C, actual payroll, bills and checks, and travel report.
- Prairie Trails students showcased PE activities
- RTEA Comments were given by Mr. Bob Kastner
- Board Communication discussed Indian Grove Movie Night, Euclid Fun Fair, Build a Chipmunk event at Prairie Trails, Dinner with RTEA members, and Winter Wonderland at Camp Sunrise
- The administration of Prairie Trails School gave an update on building goals and data
- More information and discussion was given about the 2025-26 Chromebook Refresh Program, which was approved
- The Indian Grove Clear Touch Panels was presented, voted on, and approved
- Mr. Berry presented the 2025-26 staffing plan for review
- Information on a Technology Department reorganization was given by Ms.Alicia Duel. This will be voted on in the consent agenda in March
- The board reviewed the second phase of the RTMS furniture purchase, which will be voted on in the consent agenda at the next meeting.
- There was consideration of a resolution providing for the issue of not to exceed $4,800,000 of working cash fund bonds of the District, providing for the levy of taxes to pay the bonds and authorizing the sale of the bonds to the purchaser thereof. The board voted to approve.
- The board considered a resolution providing for the issue of not to exceed $10,200,000 of alternate revenue bonds of the District, providing for the pledge of certain revenues to the payment of the bonds and the levy of taxes to pay the bonds if the pledged revenues are insufficient, and authorizing the sale of the bonds to the purchaser thereof. It was approved.
- Consideration was given to a resolution abating the tax heretofore levied for the year 2024 to pay debt service on General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2024, of School District Number 26. The board approved it.
- Mr. Rognstad gave the NSSEO update, which discussed working on the action steps of the strategic plan, including a governance restructure
- The Operations committee report included information on Indian Grove Solar Panels and an approval vote on option B, and information on the microgrid placement
- The Benefits Committee report was given, which talked about the new staff benefits options presented at their recent meeting
- The Public Relations Committee discussed having a PR Committee meeting before the next month’s board meeting
- The President’s report talked about upcoming events, including Euclid jump into spring, IG Literacy night, McTeacher Nights, Kindergarten Registration, RTMS Pack the place, upcoming music concerts, fuel up to play 60, the upcoming superintendent review meeting, the north cook dinner, next board meeting, and brewing with the board
- Dr. Megerle talked about the upcoming North Cook Job Fair, registration and residency coming up in the superintendent’s report
- In future topics, the board discussed RSVPs to the North Cook Dinner
